Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Dr. Primeaux utilizes ultrasound therapy for a wide range of muscle related injuries. Although this therapy is referred to as ultrasound, this is not the same type of ultrasound used to screen internal parts of the body. This method of ultrasound creates sound waves that massage and gently vibrate muscles and soft tissues. The sound waves help to jump start the natural healing process of the body and help to reduce the formation of scar tissue and decrease inflammation.

Ultrasound therapy can be utilized in several ways. One method involves using heat to relax muscles and reduce tightness. Another method is utilized to decrease acute inflammation of joints or muscles. Ultrasound therapy triggers healing at the most basic cellular level leading to faster recovery from injuries and chronic pain.
